"That teacher is mean!" Over the years, I have heard my own chidren complain about certain teachers and my standard reply is, "You're going to have a lot of different bosses when you start working, so you might as well get used to getting along and dealing with him/her." As much as I might agree with my child (unless there were to be true mental or physical abuse going on) I show empathy and show support for his/her effort to cope with difficult situations. - Before teaching in the Grosse Pointe Public School System, I taught in private schools in the Grosse Pointe area and in public schools out-of-state. I have taught many students in all grades from kindergarten through ninth grade. Before becoming an elementary principal, I worked as the K-12 Mathematics and Language Arts Curriculum Specialist in the Grosse Pointe Public Schools. I have the wonderful advantage of knowing the teachers, staff, and community very well and appreciate that I work with an exceptional group of dedicated teachers and parents.
